I Allow Myself to Simply Be Me

I allow myself to simply be me.

I believe that I was created by a master artist and I am confident that I am who I was meant to be, so I gladly allow myself to simply be me.

I may be a work-in-progress, but I keep myself continually open to the smoothing and shaping hands of my Maker. I choose not to waste time worrying about what could be, if I were someone else, because I am happy being me.

I believe that there is plan for my life. I may not be able to see it all clearly right now, and that’s okay. I don’t have to be able to see every step I need to take (or why I need to take it). I simply focus on developing the skills and talents instilled within me from the beginning. As I do so, my purpose becomes clearer, one step at a time.

Because I am confident in my purpose, I am able to relax and enjoy the success of others without feeling the need to compete. I let go of the tendency to glorify other people’s successes and to view them as more important than my own. Some may be more glittery and noticeable than my own, but they are no more important.

I want to thrive in my own life. This means that I must let go of the idea that I can, by sheer effort or willpower, fulfill someone else’s purpose. Instead, I focus on my own path, knowing that it, too, is important. After all, I am the only one suitably equipped with my talents, personality, and circumstances to fulfill my purpose.

Questions of Reflection:

1.    Am I trying to fulfill my own purpose or someone else’s?
2.    Am I able to be happy for others without feeling the need to compete?
3.    Do I recognize the value of my own set of talents and circumstances?

I Pursue Peace

I choose to pursue peace each and every day.

I focus on achieving peace every single day. I understand that it isn’t something that just magically comes to me. I have to control it. I have to find it, hold onto it, and pursue it.

Throughout the day, I keep track of how I’m feeling. I mentally take note of where I am in terms of feelings. I look into what causes me unhappiness and stress, and what brings me amusement and joy. I direct my life accordingly so that I am constantly heading in the right direction.

Through this type of reflection, I am able to see my life in context. I can look in from above and see what is pulling my strings. I can see what has a good hold on my emotions, and I am able to take better steps at taking control of my emotional life.

I come to see stress in terms of who, what, where, when, and how.

I learn to know myself with greater complexity, and I can fine-tune my behavior to live a better life. I come to easily recognize the signals I receive from my body when stress is working its way into my system. I am sensitive to these signals, and I know how to respond accordingly.

I take excellent care of my health, and I never allow myself to take on more than I can reasonably accomplish. I accept my failures and I don’t expect perfection. I understand that peace and contentment is a process.

Questions of Reflection:

1. What particular components in my life lead to tension?
2. Do I know how to recognize the earlier stages of stress?
3. Am I able to alter my life so that stress becomes less of a problem?

I Am Passionate

I aim my passions in the direction of my interests.

I am living the life I want to be living. I am doing what I want to be doing. My passion is easy to elicit and natural.

I avoid negative people. I live my life with other strong people, people of passion and meaning. I feed off their energy, and they feed off of mine. We are all people of projects. We are busy with work that captures our imagination. I look forward to my life, to my work, and to my aspirations. I am living the life that I was meant to be living.

No matter what happens, I keep my head in the game. I look at the big picture and stay focused. I don’t let the world get me down. I am respectful and kind, but I won’t submit or deny my own life for the betterment of another’s. If I make a sacrifice, it’s because I want to, not because I have to.

I focus on keeping myself strong and energetic. I follow my dreams and let the energy of my natural passion carry me.

I can be my most productive when I’m doing what I love. I keep my passion and imagination strong by taking good care of myself.

I eat well and sleep well. I pay careful attention to how my body feels, and I exercise often. I feel the peace and comfort that comes with a healthy body. I’m confident in my health.

Questions of Reflection:

1. Am I as passionate as I have been in the past?
2. What can I do to become more passionate?
3. Am I living a life that is in line with my passion?
